Lagaan Week: Caption Contest

Lakha might never have come close to winning Gauri's affections, but here's a contest everyone wins! :) Leave your captions in the comments section. The best entries get a mention and link within this blog post. Ladies: It can definitely be what Gauri would say, too, so have at it!

Here's a sample of entries, please see comments for all. Thank you everyone!

  • Anonymous: "You know, Lakha, looking like a 19th century woodcutter is one thing....but smelling like one...?"
  • dunkdaft: "Aati kya khandala?"
  • Shell: "Lakha, it's not how big your axe is, it's how you wield it!"
  • maxqnz: "Ashutosh can't edit So I must fix O rey Chori - axe the gori"
  • Sujoy: "Gurrl! Imma chop yo wings, coz I ain't lettin my angel fly away."
  • Louella: Lakha: "Lakha badnaam hua, darling tere liye!" Gauri: "Bhuvan, Bhuvan ki jawaani..."

Lakha: Gurrl! Imma chop yo wings, coz I ain't lettin my angel fly away.

Gauri: Please! If it was even Bhuva chatting me up like that, I'd have given him one tight slap by now.

Arjavi said...

"Lakhaaaa, you had BETTER behave or I'll file sexual harassment charges."

To which Lakha says, "Gauri, we are in late nineteenth-century India, babe." :D

Louella said...

Lakha: Lakha badnaam hua, darling tere liye!
Gauri: Bhuvan ka jawani...
(not sure if the hindi is correct.)

Darshit: "Aati kya khandala?" never gets old, does it? Do you remember the response when Ghulam's soundtrack was released? Wasn't that something?

maxqnz: That's hilarious! If the gori is axed, who will teach the cricket team?! Good thing Lakha wasn't *that* cruel. :P

Sujoy: Yours is the first indication I have ever gotten that would lead me to believe that LAGAAN could've even incorporated a hip-hop number in a 19th century setting with a greater-than-average chance of success! " Ain't lettin my angel flyyyy awaaaaay!" Nice! :D

Arjavi: Your entry has me thinking about the role of colonial India in laying the groundwork for the country's legal infrastructure! Very self-aware, I guess if Lagaan were somehow set in the 2000s, Lakha teasing Gauri would likely be addressed by some code of conduct out there!

Louella: Great fun! :D Thank you. I'm still laughing at the "Bhuvan Ki Jawaani" bit, Gauri would clearly want that over the Badnaam Lakha, huh?! ;)

Anonymous (and I know who you are since we discussed this entry on Twitter ;)

You might want to pass that entry along with a link to this page to a company called 'Axe' that makes and sells deodorants! Seriously! That's a hilarious caption. :D

Thanks for stopping by and for spreading the cheer.

TheMasakkali: Do I sense you stirring up some trouble in Champaner? Trying to make a love triangle into a love square? Hmm? :P

Shell, Shell, Shell: :D !! Just... :D !! You've only hit on one of the most timeless topics in history. Forget a hundred years or two, this goes back a lot farther! ;D

Thanks for stopping by! I'm psyched for all the fun you all are going to have, Bollywood blogosphere represent!

Oh geez, that comment would have been funnier if I'd actually spelled it right!

Oh c'mon, it's the communication that counts, *especially* when we're talking of wielding an axe! ;)

Cheers!

Ok.... Have contacted AXE... Sadly they are not interested in Lakha being their next advertising icon... They said (and I quote) "there is no hope to find a decent costume designer anywhere on this planet, even in this galaxy, who will make that man look cool ahm fresh ahm clean... And that's what the Axe-effect is all about... The chance that even flies would die of the bad smell is eminent..." I fiercely disagreed but could not convince them.... Sorry...
