Aamirians and Rahmaniacs ('and' because one cannot be one and not the other), the next Aamir Khan and A. R. Rahman collaborative effort is going to release at some point over the next week with the soundtrack to Ghajini. Guzaarish has been playing on several radio stations this weekend (which is when the music was originally scheduled to release). If the soundtrack has more to the song, which I doubt it will, I'll be sure to add it below.
The song is the subject of the second trailer (see this post), and is shot in a desert in Namibia with Aamir and the stunning Asin Thottumkal. It's an excellent love song with lyrics by Prasoon Joshi and vocals by Javed Ali. You might recall he sang another excellent love song earlier this year, Jashn-e-Bahaara from Jodhaa Akbar. Here, he is supported by Sonu Nigam, who makes his only appearance of the album as a supporting background vocalist. The music is brilliant, and I wonder if it'll be as popular as what is arguably the song of the year in Kabhi Kabhi Aditi from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (translated here).
I always manage to reach the peak of inflated expectations with Aamir-Rahman collaborations. They've never disappointed. We'll discuss a film featuring the two in my next post. Until then, have a great weekend, everyone!
