The month of Ramadan started yesterday, which means that while fasting from sunrise to sunset daily for a month (haven't found a better exercise in cultivating patience), there's no way my Salman Khan workout won't be affected. Okay, okay, so I can make my gym routine sound glamorous, and who better to aid in that cause than the guy who set a benchmark in Hindi cinema for a physique that is to women what John McCain is hoping Sarah Palin is to, well, women? ;)
So August was a decent filmy month, Rock On being the best film by far. September is interesting enough for us not to sing, "wake us up when September ends". Here are a few I am curious to see (below is the complete listing). Skipping the theaters this month -- October should be a real treat:
1. A Wednesday
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill, Deepal Shaw, Aamir Bashir and others. Shah and Kher in an action flick promise fireworks! Besides, it's a very Bombay-centric film (yeah, yeah, I know it's Mumbai, but I haven't yet seen 'Mollywood', so I'll stick to name of the city I was born in :P). Here's its official website.
2. Saas Bahu Aur Sensex
'Sensex' is the Bombay Stock Exchange index. The film stars Farooq Sheikh, Kirron Kher, Ankur Khanna, and lovely ladies Masumi Makhija and Tanushree Dutta. The official film website has the trailer (should be fun!) and more.
I debated including this, but it's starting to look like a decent period film (no points for guessing the year). And I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to seeing more of Adah Sharma! Love this picture, more for Ms. Sharma and her wardrobe than for the lunch box (or tiffin, as it is often called in India). Loveleh!
4. Welcome to Sajjanpur
Starring Shreyas Talpade (if you haven't seen Iqbal (2005), you MUST!) and the beautiful and likable Amrita Rao. This is the wild card for the month, the first comedy by Shyam Benegal -- if it's good, it could be very very good!
