Call it what you may. An inflection point. A paradigm shift. A game changer. That is what Lagaan (2001) meant to my movie-watching career (for what it's worth). That same year also featured another famous period film -- Asoka -- starring another famous Khan (you know who). While Asoka did not do too well at the box office (I certainly don't mean to compare it, or anything else, to Lagaan; that would be unfair), I really liked it largely due to a fantastic performance by one of my favorite actresses (following that film is when she cemented her place among my favorites) as noted in this post (hint: her name begins with a 'K', and she is related to Shammi Kapoor). Ever since, I have been a loyalist.
Today was an exciting and memorable day and made a July to remember significantly more significant, for I met her! I cannot reveal much, so do forgive. But I can say that she looks as stunningly beautiful in person (perhaps even more so) as she does on camera, with or without make-up. She is looking forward to working with Aamir Khan soon in a comedy flick. And I am so looking forward to framing my pictures and autographed memorabilia ;)
Am I bowled over or what?!
This was what I was thinking of, jab we met. All the adjectives apply. And especially to the Kareena in the wardrobe I think suits her best. Enjoy the song. In the mean time, I'll dance along while hoping to present this dance by Shahid at the next wedding in my extended family ;)
A special thank you to Ms. Kapoor, who was really just a fun person to be around. Thanks are also definitely in order for the people who made this possible (perhaps the same who made this possible). You know who you are, and although you might think my obsession with Bollywood is slightly unhealthy, I truly appreciate what you did for me today.
