Amused at all the press this latest Aamir Khan blog post is getting. Members of the media who stir up yet another controversy involving the two cite only a couple of sentences from it, which is typical of their business. If read in its entirety, especially this bit, one might well understand the post differently:
Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?
Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!!
Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…
All I can say is I’m waiting for him to come over, .
Sure, Aamir could have been more politically correct. But is it just me, or does the home's former caretakers' naming their pet dog only illustrate their admiration for Shah Rukh Khan? It's like one of my friends naming his two dogs Aamir and Salman after Andaaz Apna Apna (1994)! What's wrong with THAT? And didn't Aamir just invite Shah Rukh to his house in the post?!
Fans of Shah Rukh Khan, note that Shah Rukh states the following in response, which I hope is enough to diffuse any tension among their respective fans and to silence those who relish in stirring controversies: "Aur hum jab milte hain toh is se bhi ajeeb batein karte hain" (...and when we meet, we talk about even stranger things). Watch him say that at this link.
Good to see Shah Rukh taking the statement as it was intended. Again, there is nothing new to this. Refer to these posts for more on the relations between the two:
this link) ignores his fans:
"Moving towards blogs is a way towards joining the journalist fraternity. I love journalists but I am an actor and would like to keep it that way."
Surely, actors who blog do so to be closer to their fans, not journalism! Only Amitabh Bachchan challenges that, and I have stopped frequenting his blog for he has convinced me that he genuinely believes that the world is against him. As glass-half-full kinda guy, I try to keep the negative vibes away, although it's quite a task to do so in my profession. 'Skepticism' is the blanket term we use.
[Aside: Imagine the magnitude of the controversy were Aamir's dog named Abhishek. ;) THAT would make me a regular visitor to Amit-ji's blog, if only for his color commentary.]
Ah, the controversies never stop, do they? Where's the Integration? And, Shah Rukh, when are you visiting Aamir in Panchgani? ;)
