Listed below are this month's releases. Look forward to seeing
Bhootnath (starring
Amitabh Bachchan and
Juhi Chawla) and
Jannat (starring
Emraan Hashmi and
Sonal Chauhan). Here are their official websites:
Bhoothnath |
Jannat. The former is worth looking forward to if only for Mr. Bachchan. The latter has a couple of good songs and a plot that I find much more appealing, but I hesitate to praise music composer
Pritam Chakrobarty given
his track record, so I shall save commentary on the music for the movie review.

I want to see Jannat, as well, especially as now I read that it will involve match-fixing and the allure of money, which should be nice and dramatic.
I'll probably skip Bhootnath, as I don't like kids movies, but I'm really curious about Woodstock Vila to see if Sikander is as good an actor as his mother. Kirron Kher is a formidable actress. (Plus, I love thrillers.)
Woodstock Villa should be interesting, yes.
I think Jannat will do well, given it deals with a subject that has haunted cricket fans for a while. The harsh reality is that there is strong evidence to suggest match-fixing scandals over the years. For that, there was a period, particularly in the 1990s, during which people lost trust in their teams. So this issue is near and dear to people's hearts, and it will be interesting to see how that is portrayed in the film, and how it is received.
I think Emraan Hashemi does quite well in thrillers. Thought he did well in Aksar, Chocolate, The Killer, and Awarapan (his best, in my opinion).
"Hari Puttar"??? will never watch it, but the name kills me. Its interesting that Bollywood is suddenly so geared towards children's cinema. Woodstock Villa I am waiting for.
'Hari Puttar' is such an unoriginal title, I can't believe someone made a film with that name. It's funny, but it could have been about as effective in a scene in or a song.
And yes, the trend with children's cinema is interesting.
