Too often, soundtracks belonging to this genre are classified as 'yet another album with noise'. This is unlike anything I have come across in its genre. It is definitely worth listening to and understanding, hence the effort.
The album has eight tracks, one of which is a remix (see the track listing in this post). Let's start with Kahin To Hogi. Beautifully sung by newcomer Rashid Ali and Vasundhara Das, it is fast becoming a sing-along favorite!
Here are the lyrics I transcribed, and alongside it my attempted translation. Listen to the complete soundtrack at this link. And go buy this album -- it's worth every penny, and will make us stronger believers in love!

Wanted this lyrics badly ... Awesome .... must say very 'sensitively' traslated too
Hi Mayuresh: Thanks for your comment. It is a great song that warrants sensitivity!
Thanks for the lyrics. Got to hear SUCH a beautiful and sensitive song after AGES!! AWESOME voice only makes the song even more lovely!
A very soothing lyric! and an absolute impeccable translation! Hats off!
Anonymous: Agree that the voices are awesome. Rashid Ali is quite a find. And I am really glad that Vasundhara Das provided vocals for this, for I have always believed she has not gotten her due.
Sujatha: You are very welcome. Thank you for your kind words.
Thanks a lot for putting the translation up, because this is such a beautiful song. Everything in it is perfect! The lyrics are sumptuous, the music is grand and so soothing, without forgetting the translation which is impeccable! Hats off dude!
Hi Waseem: Thank you for stopping by! Truly appreciate your kind words. I still cannot get enough of it. Hope this adds to your enjoyment of the soundtrack.
Hi. Thanks for this. Really really appreciate it. I really love the soundtrack of this movie, esp Kahin To Hogi. The song's more meaningful now that I fully understand the lyrics.
Hi eMa: Thanks for your comment! It really makes it worthwhile knowing it was useful. Have you gotten a chance to see the movie?
Cheers!
Hi bollywoodfan. Nopesy, have not gotten a chance to watch it yet.
:( ... Have u? Did u like it?
Hi eMa: Yes, I saw it and loved it! My initial thoughts are documented in this post.
Thank you for stopping by!
Dhanyavad, dhanyavad -- You are so wonderful to translate these beautiful, bahut bahut sundar songs here! I'm so glad I found your site. I am a bollywood fan to the bone too --bilkul,sach, meri dil bharati hai (I am learning hindi, so please excuse any transliteration errors - I love the language). (btw, your pic shows a remarkable resemblance to a young Aamir...:) - Punzelle
dhanyavad for these sundar lyrics -- such a beautiful song (and movie) - I love bollywood movie music; the lyrics are written by poets!
Punzelle and Sulee: Welcome to the blog, and you're very welcome, thank you for your kind words!
Punzelle: All the songs from Jaane Tu are really good. I think of all the albums released in 2008, it's the one I frequent most. Aap ka dil Bharati hai, indeed! Good luck learning Hindi! (LOL at the comment on the profile picture ;)
Sulee: You're absolutely correct about the poets. The soundtracks add so much to a movie, and the lyrics are the heart of it all, well said!
Cheers!
