It's a beautiful song with simple but beautiful lyrics by Nusrat Badr (I like how the wind is treated as a being, and use it as a proper noun). Here they are with my translation. Taking a slightly different approach to this, and noting them in one voice (male). The Alka Yagnik lyrics are almost identical (with the occasional additional aaja re, but they are the same otherwise), so this encompasses the entire song in a way. Thank you so much for the lyrics cum translation. My Hindi bilkul basic hai, and I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this wonderful song fully. I’ve been listening to it for hours already, caught in an endless loop… It's great to hear Alka again, she had been silent for so long.

In addition to Alka, Sonu too seems to have dialed down on his Bollywood numbers -- I think his latest solo album titled 'Classically Mild' is fantastic. It is great to hear them again!
At first pass I like Ada even better than Jaane...although I need to listen more to both.

Thanks for the hint about Sonu’s solo album. Beside the beautiful melody in the above song, these are the crystal-clear and soft voices of Sonu and Alka that are so mesmerising. They both seem to sing without any exertion, and I like the echoing lyrics too. Definitely one of the greatest duets. Another one I love, “Sakhi Piya” from Khoya Khoya Chand, was sung by Shreya Ghosal and Pranab Bhiswas. It has got completely wasted as a short piece of background music in a quite touching scene, but the track on the CD is really overwhelming. In contrast to Sonu and Alka, the voices of Shreya and Pranab sound more complementary. The song is in classical style, and the lyrics are based on a poem by Amir Khusrau. Simply beautiful.
Thank you Memsaab: Ada has a very interesting soundtrack, although it'll be a couple more listens before I can confidently review it.
Its flow is atypical, but that's what I said of the music to Jaane Tu... :)
Prasanna: Agree with your comments on the duet. I think you'll like Sonu Nigam's solo album (here's my review). Also agree with your assessment of 'Sakhi Piya' -- it's an amazing song (I didn't realize it was a poem by Amir Khusrau -- thanks for that info). I wrote about my fondness of the song in my review of Khoya Khoya Chand and in my notes of another album I was listening to.
