Jab We Met -- refreshing, funny, authentic

Let's get this straight. Jab We Met is a refreshing and tasteful romantic comedy. In the category of comedy, my opinion is that it scores higher than most of the cheap comedic films (including those by, yes I shall say it, ahem...Akshay Kumar, e.g. Heyy Babyy). In the category of love stories, it is right up there as well, no matter that Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor split during or right after the film's release.

Make no mistake -- this one belongs to Kareena and Shahid. With strong emphases on delivery of dialog, Jab We Met is the story of how a woman captures the heart of a man who falls hopelessly in love with her. Given his position as one of the more influential businesspersons in the country, the moments he initially spends with the woman become the driving force behind his successful recovery of a failing business. And so the story goes.

In a nutshell: Guy meets girl. Guy loses girl. Guy misses girl. Guy looks for and finds girl. Guy is about to lose the girl again. Girl announces her allegiance to guy.

Sounds simple on the surface. Watch the film to see how exciting and fun-filled this journey can be! Overall, Jab We Met is a cute film with some feel-good romance and tasteful comedy. Kareena Kapoor looks beautiful and her makeover is well portrayed. She steals the show with her acting. A word on her wardrobe -- it suits her in an excellent fashion (especially the salwar kameez outfits), and adds the grace and simplicity that makes her the epitome of the Bharati naari who is considerate and compassionate while oozing sex appeal.

Shahid Kapoor puts in a very good performance as well. His acting is simple and effective, and has little noise to it. I particularly enjoyed the matter-of-fact approach that he employs with his character. Well done. Overall, a well-deserved three and a half stars for a film that works!

Movie rating: ***1/2 (very good!)

My classification: PG (for plot)

Was going through the index of your film reviews and HAD to drop by here!
My fav film... have seen it like sooo many times and still love it as much...
from hotel D-cent, to Kareena's constant yak yak (when she meets Shahid for the first time) to Kareena's eloping with Shahid, weirdly enough (since he's no where in the picture :) like he very well puts it - Ladki bhagana ka ilzaam hai mujhpe, aur mujhe ladki bhi nahi mil rahi hai)....to kareena's ludicrous outburst of expletives for her ex on the phone [not sure if you understand Hindi, but those words in any other language wouldn't sound as impactful ;)trust me], I louved every bit about Jab We Met...<3

Cheers!!
